Inspired Design: 2017 Buick LaCrosse sedan
Redesigned to offer full-size sedan customers a striking, all-new design, sophisticated technologies and more-responsive performance, Buick has introduced the 2017 LaCrosse sedan. A striking evolution from current Buick models, the front-wheel drive LaCrosse features a grille design that puts a new face on the brand, including a new, three-color tri-shield insignia set on a wing-shaped element. Contrasting with darkened waterfall grille bars and spanning the width of the opening, it connects the grille and headlamps, and emphasizes LaCrosse’s new sculptural surfacing. The design was introduced on the Avenir concept and was inspired by the 1954 Wildcat II concept.
Available in LaCrosse, Preferred, Essence and Premium trim levels, power for the Buick sedan is generated by a new 3.6L V-6 engine paired to a new eight-speed automatic transmission featuring Stop/Start and Active Fuel Management (AFM). AFM allows the V-6 to operate as a four-cylinder in many conditions. All wheel drive is an available option for the Premium trim level.
Longer, lower and wider than the previous model, the 2017 LaCrosse is built on an all-new chassis that is stronger yet lighter and serves as the foundation for a more dynamic driving experience. It is about 300 pounds lighter than before, thanks largely to the use of press-hardened, high-strength steels, which contributes to greater efficiency and more responsive handling. Lower weight also comes from new, dissipative sound-absorbing materials that are lower in mass, but provide more effective sound attenuation, resulting in a new threshold for Buick’s signature QuietTuning.
Control hardware consists of a MacPherson strut coil-over-spring at the front, while a new five-link rear suspension contributes to a more responsive ride, while taking Buick’s signature quietness to a new threshold. The optional HiPer Strut front suspension featuring Continuous Damping Control is available on Essence and Premium FWD trim levels.
Inside the passenger cabin, wireless charging is standard on Essence and Premium trim levels. IntelliLink with frameless eight-inch-diagonal color touch screen featuring Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot integration is standard as well as a remote vehicle starter system and keyless open and start.
Additionally, the Teen Driver feature is standard. It allows parents to set controls, review driving habits and encourage safe driving habits even when they are not in the vehicle.
