A W5A580 five-speed automatic with overdrive is an available option. All Wrangler Unlimited models feature one of two part-time four-wheel drive systems: NV241 Command-Trac or the heavy-duty NV241OR Rock Trac.

The Wrangler Unlimited SUV rides on a robust ladder frame which consist of front/rear live axles, leading/trailing arms, track bar, coil springs, stabilizer bar, low-pressure gas-charged shock absorbers (16-inch wheels), monotube high-pressure gas-charged shock absorbers (17- and 18-inch wheel packages).
